Another unknown frame!
Found on CL. Seller is very motivated. Bike has Shimano 600 components and 2 x 7 gearing. the frame is white with no decals. Mavic MA 40 black anodized hoops, aero brakes, and turbo saddle. Looks late 80s to me but what is the frame material?

The frameset is a Vitus 979. The tubes are are an alumimum-magnesium alloy and are bonded to the lugs and BB shell. These frames were introduced for the 1979 model year and besides being marketed under the Vitus brand, were also sold under the names of various European bicycles, including Cilo, Motobecane and Peugeot.
If OEM,The Shimano 600 Ultegra components would it no earlier than 1988, while the use of the single pivot version of the brakes places it no newer than 1990. The presence of a 2nd set of bottle bosses confirms that the frame itself is from the late 1980s.
These frames were typically offered with colour anodized main tubes and natural finish forks, stays and lugs. Consequently, this appears to be a repainted and possibly repaired frame.

Thanks T-Mar, for your help. I think I'm going to pass on this one. Interesting bike though, and my size.

Just an opinion. If the price is low, you can buy it and keep the parts for a future build.

That's a good idea. I was pondering that myself. It does have nice parts and wheels. The distance between the drop outs on older bikes changed at some point. So these wheels would probably be 126 mm. BTW I think seller was asking $400.
