Value in the eyes of the beholder!

Really nice Bontrager and the original, not Trek version! As for the value, locally selling on CL expect somewhere between $200 to $400 On Ebay I've seen an original made Bontrager Lite go for $800 to $1000, of course that depends on bidding activity. Shipping is a pain, don't go International, CONUSA only using FedEx and insured. I have had three Bontrager's over the years, but I'm strictly a roadie, but still appreciate the quality and handing of the Bontrager made bikes over the others on the market! Good Luck and Happy Holiday's, Mike

So, an original made in Waterloo? What is the cut point on location and involvement, was he using Trek's resources while still on his own?

Keith Bontrager still made the Race,Race-lite and Road lite steel frames in Santa Cruz,Ca after
Trek acquired Bontrager and hired Bontrager around late '95.
Plus Bontrager still continued to make and test some Bontrager name components in the Santa Cruz location.

The Ti Lite titanium version of the race-lite frame was also outsource.
The Privateer was made in Waterloo,Wisconsin.

And when mass aluminium frames from overseas became available for cheap.Trek closed both locations in the USA.
