What are your opinions of these two road bikes (Columbia and Fuji)?
Hi and happy new year everyone! I am looking for some advice about how much these two road bikes are worth. I cannot tell the year/model numbers myself. The guy is asking $225 for the Fuji and $195 for the Columbia.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

The Columbia is a bottom end department store bike not really worth wasting time on maybe worth $50. The Fuji is entry level early 80's import if everything is in good working order serviced ready to ride it's worth $125-150 also it is a real small bike 50 cm or so frame for rider about 5'- 5'4". I would say pass on both of these In most markets for the $200-250 price range you should be able to do a lot better.

A lot of the Fuji catalogs are online. This Fuji Absolute is from 1986 and was above only the Regis in their adult road bike lineup. Link:

At $225 it's grossly overpriced. It's not even worth trying to haggle them down.
If you give me your height/ frame size and location, I could recommend some bikes on craigslist.

The Fuji is by far the better value. It's a 1986 Fuji Absolute, which was 2nd from the bottom of the adult, lightweight line. It is a fairly nice bicycle with Valite main tubes and mostly aluminum components, including rims. I agree that it is overpriced, especially for this time of year, however in some markets the pickings can be very slim if you really need a frame this small. Sometimes you have to pay a premium to get a bicycle that fits properly.

There's a bunch of 19" road bikes in Tampa, but there seems to be a curious lack of 21" frames.
1988 Bridgestone RB-2 - $260 (Tampa, FL)

1985 Trek 300 - $200 (Palm Harbor)
Trek roadbike

1989 Fuji Ace - $175 (st.pete)
Fuji Road Bike 700c Mavic wheels

Each about $150 too much, IMO

This Univega mixte has been nicely upgraded with a mountain bike triple crank and some bar end shifters. I'll also recommend some hybrids.
1984 Univega Supra Sport - $100 (Spring Hill)

BIANCHI Boardwalk - $50 (Clw Bch)

The Fuji looks very interesting. A good candidate for upright handlebars and, perfect size for female rider. But, price is a tad high. It would have to be in perfect shape at $225. Would be a better deal around $175. The other bike is rubbish. Worth $25 tops.

Clang, you are so kind! Thank you! I'm sure you understand how it's difficult for newbs like me to discern what's worth what at this price range.

Sure. I don't want anyone coming to this forum for advice to drop almost $200 on that Columbia. The cool thing about buying vintage bikes is as long as you make a smart initial purchase and take decent care of it, you'll be able to sell it for around what you paid.
When you go and look at these bikes, make sure to bring a floor pump with both presta and schrader valves so you can inflate the tires and test ride it. Also bring a multi-tool hex wrench so you can adjust saddle height.
Here's another option that just popped up today: (probably 1987 or 88)
KHS Triathalon - $250 (Tampa)
KHS Women's Road Bike

Trust me, you really don't want a road bike with a "girl's frame"; even the few decent ones lose a lot of value...

This thread is 6 months old and the O.P. doesn't seem to active. Anything over $2 is too high for that Columbia
