Help me identify this bianchi!!!

It has the 1988 decal. Notice chrome fork and only one chrome chain stay. All the parts that you see in these pics were on the bike either stock or replaced. I know for sure the crank has been replaced as the one on the bike still has the price tag sticker on it. A lot of suntour parts. Phil Wood hubs. Mavic Mod 2 rims.

Can you post just one pic of the entire frame, taken from the drive side?

I do but for some reason my post isn't showing. It says it will post after a moderator sees it. How long does that typically take?

Right click on you imgur photo, click on 'copy image address' and insert that into the 'post image' slot that pops up when you click on the little icon for photos on the posting menu.

The serial number indicates a 1986 model but the frame characteristcs are inconsistent with that year. More likely, it is 1989 and the 9 was indavertently stamped upside down. 1989 modles used the same decal style as 1988.

The chrome fork and Formula One decal may be a red herring. In 1989, in America, there were two Italian frames marketed. There was a Columbus SLX frame used on the Mondiale, Super Leggera and Giro. This is easy to determine by examining the inside of the tubes at the bottom bracket junction, where there would have five helical ridges.

The other 1989 Italian frame was the Columbus Cromor frame offered on the Campione d'Italia. However, it did not have the chrome or a front derailleur tab. Of course the other possibility is that it is a non-American model. I have seen European Rekord 920 from this period with Formula One tubing but not with a chrome fork.

As stated in my previous post, the helical ridges are on the inside of the tubes and they are only on one end, at the bottom bracket shell. You'll have to remove the crankarms and bottom bracket to inspect for them. They're only 3.5mm wide by 0.35mm thick, so use a good light. Attached is a picture of a section of an SLX tube, showing the helical ridges.

But they didn't have chrome forks. I haven't examined the details of this fork to see if maybe the paint was scrapped off, but then I am not certain those frames were chromed.

Then there is this bike, and with the connection to Yellow Jersey I wonder if they might be some sort of grass roots team frame. I know Bianchi did some sponsorship things back then but I don't recall what the frames were.

As I stated, the fork may be a red herring (i.e non-original) or it could be a foreign model.

Must be a foreign model bc the inside of the tubes at the bottom bracket junction do not have any helical ridges. Smooth at silk.

Def. did not have the pain scraped off and the Bianchi emblem on the chrome fork is painted white. Based on the seizing of the fork to the frame the bike mechanic states that the fork was most likely stock. Unfortunately he is not very familiar with Bianchi's either so he told me to contact you guys on this forum! Please help!
