Motobecane Grand Touring
I'm seeing these bikes in about an hour. The seller said it needs some attention such as tube or chain or gear. Can't see enough but I think lot of rust on chain or gears etc. I'm thinking about getting them real cheap and possibly start a bike project.
I've heard lot of good things about Motobecane bikes but not too familiar with them. Anything I need to look for while I'm seeing this bike? How much would be good to buy these assuming most parts are not in good condition? Any idea what year they are from by looking at photos?
Thanks!

Looks like mid 1980s. I would want to get them cheap - maybe $50 each - less is always better. Certainly appears that they have spent time outdoors. I’d try to see if the seat posts / handlebar stems move freely. Make sure the wheels are OK. Going to need a lot of TLC. But, could be good winter project bikes.

I bought them yesterday real cheap. As expected most of parts are rusted. The frame itself wasn't too bad except the forks. Tires are actually in good condition. I haven't pumped it yet though. Probably need to replace tubes.
Here are the parts that I can identify.
888 Vitus frame.
Stronglight 99 triple crankset
Weinmann 610 brakes
Suntour x-1 rear derailleur/unknown derailleur?
Is this a good frame? Do you think it's worth trying to repair?

These may be worthy to fix up if they are your size. Once you start replacing components because of the rust you will be upside down quite quickly. They're a nice bike with a few nice parts but will need a lot of work to get going again. The outside rust is bad but I am wondering how the inside and the bearing surfaces have fared.
