83 Gitane Super Corsa 60cm
I would like to find out what my 83 Gitane Super Corsa might be worth in a high value market like where I live in Austin, Texas. I built this up from a frame I bought from another forum member. I have not put on many miles since i built it up.
The wheel set is made from Campagnolo Record hubs and Mavic GP-4 tubular rims. I glued on some Vittoria Corsa Evo SC tubulars with Tufo Road tape. The brakes are double pivot Shimano 600 tricolor and the levers are Tektro RD341. The Nitto Technomic stem holds GB handlebars that came off a 76 Raleigh Super Course. The FD is SunTour Cyclone and the RD is SunTour Superbe Pro. The freewheel is a SunTour with a 23 tooth large cog.
It has a NOS Look branded Gipiemme saddle and the 26.6 Gipiemme seatpost. The tape is by Fizik and the yellow housing is some sort of bulk housing from my LBS. The pedals are the super light Wellgo WR-1. The DT shifters are Shimano 105. The headset is by Velo-Orange and the bottom bracket is Stronglight. The crankset is Stronglight 106.
The frame is the super light Super Vitus 980.

I recommend lowering the stem and raising the saddle for better curb appeal.
I don't know the first thing about Gitanes but I'd guess a Super Vitus frame with tubulars and a mix of above average components would fetch $250-$300.

The wheels alone with tires are worth $250. Maybe $600 for the complete bike. Looks to be in exceptional condition.

So perhaps my estimate was a bit low but only if Gitane has more cachet than I give it credit for.
The wheels are nice but IMO tubulars are a liability when selling to the masses. Much like selling a car with a manual transmission. This will turn off more buyers than it attracts.
The hodgepodge of parts is another devalue point IMO. I think a lightweight 80s race bike with full 600, Cyclone or Superbe would have more appeal.
Good news is you're in Austin with lots of buyers who might appreciate this bike at a higher price.
