Year, model & value of old BSA bike i found?

Hi all,
I found this old BSA at a local pawn shop & bought it - mostly because of the very cool sprocket with BSA incorporated into it!
Can someone tell me what year it is (I'm guessing 50's - 60's but that's a big spread), what model it is, and what it's worth? (I may have over paid, but it was one of the coolest bikes I've seen in a while so I bought with my heart - $150).
I appreciate any info
PS - Last 3 photos are after I started cleaning it - I 've just washed it with soap & water + used brillo on the handlebars & chain guard (I will get to rims & sprocket today) - the shine was still there buried under years of dirt!
Final question - you can see in last photo of chain guard that it still has rust spots - is there a way to get them out completely & make it come out as nice as the handlebars do?
Thanks again all!

You might try an oxalic acid bath for the chainguard - I just did it for a chromed fork and it came out looking like new.

Based on the dropouts, this appears to be a Raleigh manufactured model, which should put it no earlier than very late 1950s. Also, if it is Raleigh manufactured, we should should be able to identify the year from the serial number.

..but the stamped steel dropouts and the Weinmann brakes look awfully late 1960's to me. I think you paid about $50 more than it was worth...$150 for a low-end single speed in mediocre shape is too much.

The BSA crankset and alloy brakes place it as mid 60's Raliegh built bike likely from Nottingham, If you give us the serial number someone here should be able to tell when and were it was built. In slightly rough shape with bad tires, missing rear fender and likely matching rack I would say you paid a bit too much as presented I would say $75-100 and $150 or so fully cleaned up ready to ride with new tires. If you try some fine steel wool and WD-40 you should be able to gt most of the rust of the chain guard and crank.

Where is serial number? It's not under bottom of frame.
Thanks

Thanks

Try looking at the seat post lug for the serial number.

Chain guard is a Wald, inexpensive after market replacement still currently available I believe. I've seen them at bike shows for around $10 nos still in the original plastic bag.

Anyone else note those long reach calipers?
