Dave Russell Frame any value?

Just picked up this frame in a 56 cm and was wondering what value it would have?

Bikes: No-name LH drive track. Also ride an Exxon Graftek, a Masi, a Trek R200 or a RR Boneshaker for fun!

You may have already seen this: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...were-they.html
Or maybe this: Dave Russel frames - BikeRadar Forum

So you have something likely in 531, 753 or possibly Reynolds 600-series, made by the man. And he's not making more.

Hard to tell condition from pics with my old eyes, ballpark min. $200 if in rough shape, more if better condition.

I don't know the builder, but the workmanship looks pretty non-existent to me. Maybe it's the photos. I really don't think anyone looking at what I'm seeing is paying over 75-100, regardless of tubing, but I've been wrong before.

The BikeRadar thread is a hell of a read -- Dave Russell sounds like an awesome guy, and a good builder. Having read all that, I'm curious about the faint numbers on the BB shell. It looks like '60 57'. According to Dave's son, that should be month and year, but Mr. Russell had a shop from the mid-60s onwards. Was this a very early frame he made, before he had a shop, and built in 1957? Or am I misreading the numbers?

It looks to me like the first digit was double-struck when being applied. Could it read C057?
Could it possibly be a sizing stamp (many 56 cm c2c frames are 57 cm c2t). Puzzlements abound!

If you read that other thread, it appears Dave Russell was pretty consistent in using 2 sets of numbers side by side for month and year of build. Like KonAaron Snake, I was initially struck by what looks to me like mediocre workmanship. Given the praise that many people have posted (again, in the other thread) about the quality of his bikes, I'm inclined to believe that the date of this build might indeed be 1957, which would be years before he established his own shop. Perhaps this is one if his earliest frames, from when he was just learning the ropes of frame building?

Are they the same 4 numbers, i.e., what looks like '60 57'?

In the bikeradar thread linked above, Ian Russell (Dave's son) gives his phone number. You could see if the number works, and if he can shed more information. Also in that thread, there are repeated examples of 4-digit BB shell stampings, all with the last 2 numbers representing the year made. However, there is one report of a frame that was apparently build within a year of 1973, but with the code '6082'. So there's that leading '60' as on yours, but the '82' makes no sense, unless that poster's memory is off by a decade.

Interesting mystery, interesting frame. Were it mine, I'd make the phone call, and build up the bike to see how it rides (assuming it's a reasonable fit).

I think you're mixing up two different sets of numbers. The BB shell was made by Davis Components, and in the other thread about their bottom brackets you can see that cast into their BB shells was not only their name, but perpendicular to the full name was 'DC' on one side and '62 63' on the other. That '62 63' refers to the angles for the openings to accept the tubes. Those numbers would be on the BB shell when it was supplied to Dave Russell, or any frame builder they supplied. He would be responsible for the lighter '60 57'.
