3Rensho frameset value

Getting ready to move this along because it's just to big for me. This will probably be a project for someone so I know it won't be a high value frame. It's been repainted and internal toptube guides put in. There were two rust spots, one on top of the toptube and one underneath. Both were spot sandblasted and touched up. Nothing major. So what would be a fair value on it? Thanks.

I'm out of town and will get better pics of the rust repair spots when I get back.

No idea on fmv as the rust/repaint is hard to assess unless in person to any potential buyer. As a 3rensho collector there is probably minimal value but to me as a rider, in my size, needing a full build up, I would pay 180-200. I am notoriously cheap buyer on full cv projects though which seems to have become worse as my interest has waned. It would make a great blazing commuter, I could see it being fun in my fixed commuter fleet (78 trek 510, 88 trek 560).

It has the infamous single tab for Suntour downtube shifters. No holes/eyelets for fenders or racks. A racing frame. And, what's up with the headset? But, it's a 3rensho. So, I guess you could get around $150.

I think these estimates are way low. 3Rensho demands higher prices in general, even with the issues. If you can't get $400+ for it I'd be shocked.

^This. They don't come up for sale that often especially in a larger size. I sold one 2 1/2 years ago that was a 57.5cm top tube that was great as a rider and looked fantastic from 10 feet away but really needed a respray. On the auction site it brought $500+.

Given that it is a repaint, is that the original fork? It looks too new for the frame features. Calibrate me!

Agree with lostarchitect. Assuming there's no real flaw. 3rensho bikes are really sought after right now. People pull the trigger on them very fast after waiting for the chance to have one.

Put it on ebay for $650 -- that's a great frameset even with the mods - 150-200 is comical - I followed your saga of debating whether to get it or not, so am sad that it is a bit big, -- but that's the way the ball rolls sometimes

Just over a year ago there was a forum member with a beautiful 3rensho repaint (58cm IIRC) who couldn't get $700. The name brings a premium for sure but I bet you're looking at $300ish for this one.

I don't think he ever tried eBay, though. He was selling to BF'ers--we're cheap!--and locally. If this doesn't bring over $400 on ebay (probably more like $500) I will be very surprised.

Considering you see excellent condition original paint examples of these selling for $700-800 sometimes more. I think you could get $400 or so plus shipping even with the issues if you listed it here or on ebay. On a fairly quick local cash and carry sale I think you may end up closer to $300.

I was thinking $250 shipped, and thought that might be high. I don't want to list it until I get better pics.

I think that would be a gift. While likely challenging as a serious refurb/restore I see nothing life threatening about this project and were it my size, at that price the $$$ might be screaming your way as we speak.

Yeah, if that frame was 55cm and it was sitting at the local shop that does consignment for $250, I'd be weak and take it home.

I think you are fair on the price. I sold one of my 3Rensho frames for $200 with shipping. It had front end damage but was rideable with no hands. Sold it at that price just to break even.
