Bianchi Veloce - thoughts on price?

Hey all, I'm in the market for my first road bike and came across this listing.
https://houston.craigslist.org/bik/6070003002.html

It looks like an early 2000's model (maybe 2002) with original components and in decent shape. I'd question the "pristine condition" part because of the scuffs. Can use a good cleaning too - probably has not been maintained for some time since the gears are so gunky and makes it hard to tell how worn the gears are.

The price seems fair from what I've seen in other threads, maybe a bit on the high side and can nego $50-$100 off but I wanted to get some of your thoughts.

Hello fellow Houstonian. I think your instincts are right on with this one. $500-$550 is what I'm thinking. I've said before that getting a decent STI-shifting bike for under $400 is rare IMO. If I use that as a starting point, I'll give this one a few more points for being a Bianchi and having Campy Veloce.

I have no idea where this model resides in the Bianchi hierarchy. Campy Veloce is lower in the Campy food chain but still good componentry. I think it's the Campy equivalent of Shimano 105 but someone here may be quick to refute this.

I'm not an expert by any means, but the bike looks to be in pretty good shape, apart from the bar tape. If it fits well, you should go for it. Veloce is nothing to sneeze at. I think it is one increment lower than Athena.
