Hi all. I've been reading this forum for a while but is the first time I post. I'm almost done with building a 1984 olmo la biciclissima. I did it for the sake of riding it, not selling, but all the money and frustration that went into this just got me wondering how much is this bike worth,I guess for my own knowledge.
Frame is a Columbus SL(size 57)
Headset is super record
Crankset is super record with pista pedals and campagnolo toe clips (not pictured)
BB nuovo record
FD and RD nuovo record
Brakes and levers nuovo record.
Nuovo record hubs with Super Record skewers on FIR clinchers (700)with regina 6 speed.
Cinelli Bar and 3t stem (panto bertoni for what matters)
Seatpost is Victory and saddle is a modern San marco ponza.

Great looking Olmo

Classic Italian SL frame with Campy NR components but doesn't have the brand equity of a Colnago, Pinarello, etc.

My buddy just sold his '70s Mercian similarly equipped and it fetched $600 on eBay. I'd guess that's the buying market for this Olmo as well. Maybe $700+ if you were patient enough to wait for the right buyer.

I'm guessing that's 50%-70% of what you have invested. Welcome to our "hobby"

Welcome! That's a beautiful bike. Congratulations on a job well done. As others have mentioned, with few exceptions it's really a buyer's market for the great vintage bikes. I suggest instead of thinking about how much it's worth now, think about how much of your disposable income it would have taken to buy this bike with these components in 1984. And then ride it and think of the pricelessness of enjoying a sublime ride on something you restored.

The frame was an emotional buy, was looking for a decent vintage frame, and when this one come up it took my as a hurricane and had to buy it. Afterwards I figured I make it into a frankenbike just for the sake of enjoying the smooth steel frame, but as I started gathering parts I realized that I needed to build it at least close to being period correct, let's say "era" correct.
Finishing touches are still missing, white bar tape, white toe tips strings, and tan brake hoods, all coming in soon.

I do love the bike, and although someone already asked if it was for sale, this one is a keeper, at least for a while.

Interestingly enough, 700$ would make about 97% of my total investment which includes every single penny spent on this thing, along with service cost, some loss I took from the reselling of wrong parts, especially BB (man that was a nightmare to get it right) and even shipping for whatever I got online.

All in all this was not meant to be a flip or to make money in any way, so I can consider myself satisfied of the outcome

I was thinking on the line of the 600/700$, which seems to be about right.
I actually just missed a beautiful Olmo 50th anniversary frame that was being sold for nothing.. Unfortunately I wasn't in the right place at the right time

Next build is going to be a neo/retro, is that what is called?!!?!

And I just noticed your Olmo is sans tape and hoods. Definitely more toward 6 than 7. Great job on building it for that.
