1986 Colnago Master value?

Hi All,

What does everyone think FMV is for this Colnago? Appears to be one of the earlier ones without the straight fork. I also really like the barend shifters but it's hard to tell what maker they are. Possibly think I spotted a Shimano 600 headset as well? No original saddle or pedals also take away from the value IMO.

Anyone have any insight as to what these bikes are going for these days?

Thanks in advance for all the info!

Others will know better as to whether this bike is worth $1,600. I just expect it would be cleaner and better maintained for that kind of asking price.

Given the condition and the missing original components I think the seller is asking too much. I've sold a couple of Colnago Masters for $1500 but they were in excellent shape.

I could see this selling for about $1200.

I would message him and see if he any of the original parts and if he's firm on the price.

Tubulars don't help the seller and could be used as a bargaining chip.

Looking again at the photos, the bar end shifters look to be custom.

I was thinking the same thing in regards to price. I spoke with the seller and he'd come down to $1100 but I'm still even hesitant at that price. I feel like if I'm gonna drop over a grand on a C&V bike it needs to be damn near perfect.

Tubulars, incorrect pedals/saddle/shifters (even though I love barend shifters I'd really want Campagnolo ones), mismatched cable routings, and just the overall unused condition the bike appears to be in all have me turned off. I'd imagine you'd want all bearings repacked as well. A lot of work left to be done at that price point imo.

I just wanted to check in with everyone in regards to value because if these bikes were going for $2000 I'd be willing to put in the work but that doesn't appear to be the case. Back to looking I guess!

Thanks again for the responses!

I think you should ride it and see how you like it, these are fantastic bikes.

If the seller is willing to drop the price by $500 he must have an idea that he is asking too much, plus it is a good sign when a seller has some realistic idea of how Craigslist works....
