Need Info On Vintage Mercier

I just acquired this Mercier yesterday and wondering if anybody knows more about it and what it might be worth. Derailleurs are simplex and it has a Stronglight Crank. The frame is Columbus tubing so I'm guessing it's not too low end.

No idea about value, but it has a lovely colorway and looks like it will clean up nicely. I assume it's not near the top-of-the-line models, with Tretubi Aelle and the Simplex/Stronglight components, but it has all the earmarks of a good quality, good riding bike. If you want to salvage that saddle, I think some contact cement will easily take care of the covering that's coming loose, and it'll look tons better after you get the brake cables draping over the bars instead of under them.

Nice looking bike. That TreTubi Alle isn't the best but I bet it is a fantastic rider. Can't wait to see her all cleaned up.

Simplex introduced their horizontal parallelogram rear derailleurs in 1982, so it's no older than that. The Columbus decal style puts the modern end at circa 1987. It's probably closely to the modern end of that range, based on the graphics. Given tretubi Aelle and the apparent era, I would place it very low mid-range, bordering on upper entry level.

Nice looking bike I would say it's a lower mid-level model circa 84/85 based on components. As said it should clean up nicely and make a great rider. With some nice vintage looking aero brake levers and a better saddle it should great.
