Dating and Appraisal of Peugeot Corbier

Hi all,

I have a vintage Peugeot Corbier that is unfortunately too small for me. I know it was a lower end Peugeot bike when it was new, but it is a shame that it is too small because it rides great. However, because it doesn't fit me I have decided it should move along. I was hoping some of you could tell me what year it is and what fair market value is for it. I live in the SF Bay area if that makes any difference. I would consider the frame to be in good condition with minor rusting. The shifters and brakes work well.

Also, would it be worth replacing the handlebar tape before selling it?

In my area, I'd say that is a $125 bike. Likely there is a $50 or more Bay Area surcharge.

Mid-1980s. Looking at catalogs online that looks exactly like the 1986 Corbier model pictured. That may have been the first year they named any models other than P or U-something. Carbolite steel frame newer logo, stem shifters, and huge reflectors do give it away as a lower model.

Carbolite 103 can ride well even if heavier than premium tubing. My '81 PH10 is 103 tubing and still has a very good ride.

I would rotate the handlebar forward a bit and replace the brake cables (they should also go over the bar, not under).

The bar tape looks OK, not worth replacing before you sell unless it's torn up in a way I can't see.

FMV is somewhere between $100 (if you're in a hurry to sell) and $150 for Bay Area. Above that and you'd be competing with bikes with nicer components and frame materials.

I would say it is a 83/84 as for value I would agree $150-175 in the Bay area if everything is in good working order. Nice basic hi-ten entry level sports touring bike should make a nice rider.
