3 for 1 SALE w/VINTAGE RALEIGH 10 SPEED ROAD BIKE - WHAT'S THE MODEL/YEAR?

I got this nice Made in England Raleigh 10 speed as part of a 3 for 1 sale from a guy who had a lousy garage sale the week before & agreed to $100 for this bike, a Tarantula & a BMX frame that is so light I thought it was made of carbon at first!
I looked the Raleigh over but I can't find a model name or even a serial number; can anyone tell me the year & model of this bike?
It has a Raleigh Suntour derailleur, Suntour shifters, Dia Compe brake levers, Raleigh stem & a Raleigh Weinman brakes. It also has an unusual bolt hole(?) near the bottom of the forks where the front wheel attaches - if that helps identify it.
Any help would be appreciated.
PS - Where would I find the serial number?
Thanks again!

'Raleigh Record Ace' is confusing. A model called RRA (Raleigh Record Ace) was their top of the line in the 30's and the 50's, and a top of the line bike with that name was again offered in the early 70's. The name has been recycled a few times since then as well, for a surprising variety of bikes. Most of them are quite nice, but not all.

The one in the photos above is not a top of the line bike. In fact it's either the absolute bottom end Nottingham-made 'racer,' or maybe one step up from that. Not a bad bike, but not a great score either.

Try to match the color to an aerosol can of auto touch-up paint. Apply it surgically after very lightly sanding the scratches, cleaning it, and surgically applying a light coat of primer. Did somebody spray the shifters and stem with white paint? Is the rear derailleur in OK shape?

Thats the flash from camera on shifters I guess; they arent painted. Derailleur works great.

I took photo with phone while it was hanging from ceiling, sorry - but it's a job getting any of those bikes down.

Question for the heronophiles -

Assembled a new '78 Record Ace in '79, light lbue w/black head tube she was, and seem to recall it still coming with solid axle hubs. Did model receive the QR hubs in '79 or is me memory off?

As a '79 am thinking it would have been assembled in the Oklahoma facility. This was also the year of closing for it IIRC.

Thank you for any information.
