Vintage bianchi racing pricing

Hello All,

I'm trying to sell a vintage Bianchi super Nuova from ~1979. It was my father's first "expensive" racing bike from back in the day, so I'm trying to find an honorable price for it. I know a few hundred dollars worth of work went into it before it came into my possession. It's in gleaming working condition, aside from a bit of dust & grime collected from sitting in storage for a year. The frame is a touch too large for me and I'm tryig to downsize before I move from Chicago to NYC. I've seen a few similar posts, but I'm still uncertain about getting an appropriate deal. I'm not much of a bicycle nerd. I just wanted to run by a few details and observations with someone who would know better than I.

-The front and rear shifters are labeled Patent Campagnolo... the full set up seems to be "campy"

-labeling on the derailleur is slightly different Campagnolo Nuovo Record

-front & rear brakes labeled universal mod. 77

-Tubi "Super Butted" SLX Columbus label on frame, forcella originale Columbus label on spokes

-Celeste color with all navy blue lettering/details "Nuova Racing 12 Vel." sticker & rectangular flourish before Bianchi on frame

-vintage Cinelli campione del monda handle bars & newer Shimano levers

-gears & pedal stems seem to be original, Campagnolo labeling

-vintage Mavic tires from original purchase

I've seen such a large price range with these types of bicycles. In need of a bit of direction for selling as a non bike expert. The forum won't let me share urls/pictures until my 11th posting, but I'm happy to share with anyone willing to take a look. Thanks, again!

Cheers!

Post the link, without the "http:" part and you should be fine. We can do the rest.

It appears to be a circa 1983 Nuovo Racing. Serial number? The Columbus SLX decals are incorrect replacements. The Nuovo Racing of this era were tretubi Columbus SL.

Tough one...this bike is sort of in that dead zone between CL pricing and eBay. It's higher than most CL sales, but it's not valuable enough where shipping becomes less relevant.

I'm not that knowledgeable about Bianchi...and I wouldn't put much weight on my estimation...but to me, a mid-80s tretubi bike in decent shape is in the 500-600 range. The wrong tubing sticker won't help things.

That rack needs to come off the bike. It will detract from the value of the bike. I like the bike and I like the parts but the tretubi frame sort of kills it for me in terms of giving the bike a high valuation. $400-$500.

I've sold 2 of these in the past 2 years. I think you can expect $400, maybe $500 if you're really lucky.

My first bike brought $400. Had a mixed matched wheelset with a frame in not great shape. No rust but lots of paint chips and blemishes.

Second bike also brought $400 but was missing a front wheel. Frame was in near mint condition however

Celeste Bianchis will always be in demand. Especially in a major metropolitan area like Chicago. If you list it for $400 you'll have hipsters throwing blows over it. If you have some time start at $500 and adjust accordingly.

Best of luck!

Spot on IMO. I had one of these go through my hands, sold it for $425 in 2010 in less than a day. Could have gone for more perhaps. It had Nuovo Record derailleurs, Campy shifters, Modolo brake calipers, the rest was Ofmega. I should have kept this one. It was a very nice rider.
