Masi Gran Criterium

Any idea of value. The pictures are not the best, but they're all I have.

I'm going to guess you're buying, since these are the best photos you have, and I'm guessing they're from the seller. If you're selling, find a matching front wheel, put matching tires on both wheels, redo the tape, ditch the bent-up bottle cage, show it without the frame pump, raise the saddle an inch or two, and get some good drive-side photos. Looking at it as is, it makes me think it's been owned recently by someone who didn't really respect the bike, and so perhaps didn't treat it well. OTOH, it does look clean, and not like it's been in a damp basement or dusty garage for the last few years, though looking at the front hub it's perhaps gotten a quick pass with a damp rag to reveal that overall it's in good shape.

If you're the buyer, hopefully all the above helps you get it at a better price. Do you know the components we can't see?

It looks to be mid 70's Carlsbad made to me; we'd need more photos to determine for sure. The front wheel is not original. The condition looks to be excellent, I'd guess $1200 to $1500 depending on your location and if the other components are original or not. It's a tall frame that will limit the interest somewhat.

The seller claims the components are original, but I doubt if he really knows. Braze-on shifter bosses and clamp-on cable guides seem a little odd to me. The fork crown and cutout in the lugs look right. Do Masi's always have a "M" cutout in the BB shell.

Late Carlsbad, California Burgundy color. my guess, frame number in the 0500 to 0800 range, 1976 produced. tow pairs of digits most likely, 0X then XX on other side of down tube, size separately, Like MC62.
Braze ons are original in my book, so is the color and paint, pointing to the yellow paint dabbed on end of the top tube cable clip, as original. (so, check for corrosion under, this was the chrome plated period before they were made from Stainless Steel)
Parts if original will be 73 date coded. Wheels are not it shows, maybe the rear hub is… entire front wheel is not.
Bike would have been most likely 120mm rear spaced, if a 6 or 7 it is jammed in there or the frame was spread, there were a FEW bikes built with 126mm spacing, note Few.
Seat exchanged.

$600-1000 as shown, frame may be most of that, really depends on parts wear.

Fork is not bent in my opinion, maybe aggressively raked, but if you saw how they raked them, this look is common.

Braze-on shifter bosses were an extra cost option, my '76 came with them.

I've been keeping an eye out for one. Albeit would like an earlier year.

Hard to see all the details on this site unseen, but if that were to come up local to me in that condition for ~$1000, I'd be taking a look for certain.

If you can get this for <$1000...I would definitely go for it...above that, I would continue to do research...maybe get the seller to send some pictures of the drive side? And/or at least answer who made the derailleurs, etc...

Agree! That bikes looks great despite the wheels. A 76? with the stars and stripes! If you can confirm size (watch out for the MASI sizing anomaly. My 57or58 is what I would call a 55) and no damage, and you want a MASI, anything under a thousand would be a steal. That's probably the original Nuovo rear hub and you should be able to find a front for nothing. New wheels built on old hubs would be super sweet on that bike.

I emailed the seller twice, never heard back. The listing was deleted this afternoon. I should of jumped on it sooner, but $750 was a little out of my comfort zone.*sad face*

$750 asking was a multiple offer zone price. Save $ so when the time comes you can jump.
