What stem is this?

Hi,

I picked this road bike up a year ago and just wanted to know what brand the stem was?

Given how pinched the clamp is, my guess is that the handlebars are the wrong size (too small for stem clamp).

I saw that also but I thought something different. The Cinelli XA stem uses a rubber washer/plate to even out the gap and I was wondering if that was missing. Though your explanation sounds more plausible.

Atax also uses a plastic insert to close up the gap on the clamp of their 80's aero style stem......
