Claud Butler Tandem Value - Approx 1982

Thoughts on value of this Claud Butler tandem?

Reynolds 531

Suntour Cyclone M2 derailleurs

They're asking $650. I'd put the value closer to $300 or $350 as is but am curious as to what everyone thinks.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Tandems are tough to evaluate...and "vintage" ones like this doubly so. Vintage in this context means a lot less desirable features.

Is $650 unfair? Not at all...but unless they have someone who wants it, that doesn't mean much. As a rider it's likely pretty blahhhh. If it were mine, I'd probably set the floor at $600 and refuse to go lower...but it depends on their patience. $350 is, IMO, a low ball number...but on a tandem, they may not get many better offers.

A Claud Butler is on offer locally for $1500 which is way high I think. Old tandems depreciate fast. They're a tough sell.

Like KonAaron and bikemig said. Tandems are hard to sell for a few reasons.
1. They are not easy to transport.
2. They require room to store that many people just don't have.
3. Your riding partner must buy in to the tandem thing.

Schwinn Deluxe Twinns routinely trade for $300 or more around Detroit. The tour worthy tandems trade for $500 or more.

I agree with Aaron that low $300s is an insulting offer.

If you want it open at low $400's and be happy with about $500.
