1982 Team Fuji w/ Dura Ace upgrade
I have a 1982 Team Fuji that I have had since new and am thinking about selling. Everything has been upgraded to 9 speed Dura Ace 7700, and the wheels are Ambrosio Excellence with matching Dura Ace hubs. I would say it is in very good shape for a bike of it's age with a few minor paint chips and a few minor paint bubbles. Any thoughts on value? Thanks.
The imgur file name is L213WKh. I tried to add a link but as a new member don't have that capacity yet.

I would say keep it if you can that's a nice bike at you won't likely get what you have invested back if you sell it.

The thing that's tough to gauge IMO is the group. I think you'll be lucky to get what you paid for the group out of the complete bike.
There's a couple of similar era Team Fuji on eBay right now, most notable are item 142238805965, which is listed for $375 and appears mostly stock, it has 31 people watching it so obviously it's a hot item and the price is super competitive, but not enough for people to bite yet. There's a supposedly "NOS" one for just over $1k with 15 watching, item 262674784517. If you search eBay on those numbers you'll find it. I think yours is closer to the latter, but neither is a perfect match.
I don't normally do Japanese but for some reason a few have come through my shop the last 12 months for various reasons. I don't know a ton about the brand, but I'll give you thoughts on what I'd do, being oblivious to what you paid for the group.
If you were planning to sell local and weren't in a rush, I'd start on Craigslist at $850 as a feeler and make sure you put "full DuraAce" in the ad title. See if anyone bites. Obviously if you get half dozen legit emails of interest in the first 48 offers, price is too low. Else, after a few 48-hour refreshes (If you use an account), drop the price $50. Continue 'til sold.
If you're cool w/eBay with all of its risk to sellers, I'd post at $950 OBO on a 10-day list, only US sales, $100 ship, pay a legit shop to box and ship via ShipBikes/BikeFlight. Drop the sale price by $50 each new list cycle. If you get a lot of annoying lowball offers, eBay has a feature to auto-decline offers "lower than X" - use it.
But it's a beaut. I wouldn't push it out of bed if I woke up next to it in the morning.

In this case, I think the Dura Ace Group and wheelset outclass the frame.
Team Fuji is not in the same cache league as a Miyata Team or Pro, nor an RB-1. IMHO, prices for a Team Fuji are more like an Ironman Expert.
Sold on ebay for a complete bike tell me the frame is worth about $125-$150. The DA group is $300 and the wheelset about $200.
So, maybe $500 fmv for the bike as shown. Parted out, $700-$750..

You did a great job with this bike. And it's sporting the elusive Ambrosio Excellence wheels in silver. I love these wheels and only ever see them in black with the occasional sighting in blue, red or gold.
I wish I could tell you it'll bring $800 because I know it would take at least that to build it. Unfortunately, I'm guessing market value is more like $400-$500. As others have noted, you could part it out and probably get closer to $700.

Thanks for the detailed info. The bike was listed for $399 back in the 80s so I might have paid a little less than that. I think I got a good buy on a dirty looking group + wheels on eBay that cleaned up nicely, around $300. I did some of the work with bike shop support of about $150. I'll probably follow your suggestion and start with a highish number on Craigslist. Until then I'll continue to ride it in the rotation; it turns in the same times as my fancy new bikes. Bill

That's a beautiful bike! I actually owned that bike back in the '80's. I bought it new for $350 from my local bike shop with money I made mowing lawns. It was my pride a joy. As a young teen I rode it every day every where. Over the years I replaced the parts with Campy Super record parts.... then parted it out and sold it to buy something better. Now I'm looking for one as a momento to my first real road bike. I'd make an offer on yours but I need either the 55 or the 58 size. Yours looks bigger than that.
One more thing... just my 2cents... I think it would be worth more with the original parts or with parts that match the year of the frame. (That way it would qualify as an L'Eroica bike.

Sweet set up. Don't even consider taking less than $600.

Easy to say, but may be very unrealistic. If you need it gone, and don't have the room or patience it takes for a high dollar sale, and don't live in a good market, there may be no interest at that price.
Its sad, but about a certain price point, very nice vintage bikes in my market just don't sell. The "won't sell" price point here is well below $600. Great for buyers, lousy for sellers. Large size makes selling more difficult here.
Now if you plan to sell on eBay, sure, I think $600 is doable. Be careful with local shop packaging. First, in the world of eBay, YOU, not the local shop, will be responsible on any claim of poor packing. Secondly, depending on where you live, pricing to pack can be high. I bought a bike in Albany, NY. Best quote to pack was $100....
I sold a bike on eBay last week, took about $10 in supplies, and it took me three hours to pack it. About half of that time was cutting the box, getting under threshold points where shipping doubles. I don't know a bike shop that will include box cutting in their packing, and I would not expect it.

The OP's bike is comparable to similar age Calnagos & Paramounts. But, it's just a Fuji. So, only worth about 1/2 of what the premium marguee names will bring. Too bad so sad. But, there is still a good market for them. A buyer that can't afford to spend a $1000 on an old De Rosa can afford 1/2 that for a nice old Fuji.

You are right about size. Seat post measures at 23.5 inches which makes it about a 60mm.
When I got it off the wall last year (after about thirty years) my google research indicated it was a good bike, but perhaps not a classic or particularly valuable. So, I decided to learn a bit by working on it, riding it and enjoying it. Unfortunately no room for the old components, but I was happy someone on Craigslist wanted them for a project.

I spend a decent amount of time on Craigslist (Atlanta) and eBay, and I think your number is about where it would part out, so I don't think I would sell it for less. I haven't advertised it yet as I can't quite pull the trigger.

Team Fuji in 1982 was fifth in their product line up, basically, a middle of the line model. In no way will that frame compare to a Paramount or Colnago. Its a very nice, over improved bike. I've over improved bikes myself, too many times. I never even gotten the value of just the parts alone out of the completed bike. So it becomes a gift to the buyer.
Anymore, when I over upgrade a bike (yes, I still do it), when I decide to let it go, I revert it back to its original state. Or sometimes, I let it go and realize I have traded convenience for money. When I have gone the convenience route, I end up with less for the bike than the parts alone are worth (so I try to avoid it).....
Hopefully Atlanta market is much better.
And FWIW, last year I bought a 1974 Paramount, pretty much all original Campy parts, for $600. And it sat on C/L for over a month........ Yes, I thought it was a deal, thats why I bought it. $600 on C/L is really tough to get for a vintage bike. I've never done it. When I have sold the higher end stuff, a couple of Paramounts, a couple of Colnagos, and so on, I have always sold through other channels. If you can get $600 for a Team Fuji, my hats off to you!

I paid $15 for the same bike, all stock, in Saranac Lake, pristine paint. The bb cups were a challenge, but I was a noob then.

Wow, you really don't know much about vintage Fuji's do you. The Team bike was their basic top of the line model. The only Fuji's I remember being better were things like the Ace and maybe Opus. The fifth bike in the lineup would be something like a Fuji Allegro or Sagres or something.

Yes, I know nothing about Fujis.
What little I do know is the lineup was as follows:
#1: Fuji Professional Super (Campy Record/Super Record mix)
#2: Fuji Professional (Superbe/Superbe Pro mix)
#3: Fuji Newest (Cyclone)
#4: Fuji Finest Mark II (Suntour BL)
#5: Fuji Team (Suntour ARX)
Opus, Ace, Allegro and Sagres were not made that year.
