Raleigh Team Pro beautiful 753 frame mismatched components
I picked up a bike with a near perfect 1980 SBDU frame today for $100. The rest of the bike is a parts bin special with Shimano 600 brifters and crank, cheap stem seat and bars, dura ace RD. It does have (original?) campy headset.
I know I did well. Question is what to do with it. Specifically looking for advice on whether I'm better off parting it out, restoring/semi-restoring with "correct" parts, or selling as-is. Keeping it isn't really an option, the frame is much to small for me (~53cm), but I do dig the vintage Mavic Cosmic wheels and might want to keep those for my vintage Bianchi.
The frame is near flawless, not a spec of rust, just a few nicks in the paint, and some decal damage, as shown. Thoughts? Hopefully the pictures work....

I would think rebuilding wouldn't be worth it unless you went all the way with period correct parts. I'd just sell it as a frame and sell the current parts separately.

I'd say, maybe at least 400 bucks for just the frame alone, considerably more if you have a few SBDU fanatics bidding for it, and there's a lot out there.

Be sure to allow world-wide shipping, the smaller sizes catch the eye of the collectors in Asia.
An SBDU Reynolds 753 frame is rare to find in such great condition.
You might as well go whole hog and try a BIN of $700 but allow for a "Best offer" option and see what happens.
That's a fantastic wheelset, are they tubulars?

Wow, thanks again. The wheels are clinchers, I'm going to keep those. I got the frame cleaned up a little today, here are some more pics.
Unfortunately the Campy headset is brinneled toast. The Campy titanium bb is in good shape though. Guess I'll post it on eBay. Maybe I ought to hire a professional photographer at these prices.

..... did some famous pro cyclist ride or own that frame. Isn't that way over what typical SBDUS have gone for....It's a very special frame but I don't think it's that supremely, fantastically more special than a lot of other top line frames out there that sell for nowhere near where that one sold for.
