never heard of this - Akula Evader

This bike is on CL in Buffalo

https://buffalo.craigslist.org/bik/d...144806606.html

Add states:

"Akula Evader
Racing bike. Frame size.. 23 inches. Wheels 700. Tires 700 x 25, puncture resistant. Cassette type free wheel. All components has been tuned up and overhauled, wheels just trued on the truing stand. Runs well, very fast. With any questions, please, call or text Alex Phone show contact info I check Email, but not on a regular basis
Bike Number: HBFB002885
P.S. Akula means shark in several languages. Badge with a shark fin on the Head tube (see pict.)"

I have never heard of Akula as a brand.

To me very untrained eye it looks like a standard department store 70's bike.

Just asking because I'm puzzled........

I haven't heard of the brand either. The bike in question is a fairly low end Sports model contract built bike from Tawain from the late 1990's probably made by Giant or All-Pro. It would basically be a upper level chain store low end LBS level bike. In it's current shape with rough looking drive train and basicaley unknown brand worth about $150.

Wasn't buying but was curious

I thought the seller had a small case of over-pricing on his or her hands so wasn't biting. It's just that I had never heard of the brand before.

Not first time someone equates rare with valuable and certainly not the highest mark up I've seen.

The decal says it's made for Sports Logic, Redondo Beach, CA, so it's a contract manufactured, private label brand. Components indicate 1990s but S/N format is not Giant.
