Bianchi Osprey, anyone have info?

The forum won't let me post a picture, but it's black with lugs and Bianchi lettering running down the down tube in black lettering outlined in celeste and and a purple wavy line running through it.

Saw this post and I was curious if anyone knows the year and if they have any info on them. Not a lot of info out there that I can find.

Thanks for any help!!

That sounds like a '90 wityh what I call the "Art Deco" graphics. They were good solid bikes, top of the recreational mountian bike line good for some off roading but not real serious stuff. Full Chromoly frame and fork and mix of Suntour X-1 derailleurs and SR and Dia Compe components.

You can get around the security feature by posting a link with a space added to prevent recognition.

Regardless, this sounds like a circa 1990-1991 model based on your logo description. During this period the Osprey was a lower mid ATB. The 1990 version was equipped with SunTour X-1, while the 1991 version used the more desirable Shimano Deore LX. Both years used an unspecified Tange butted CrMo tubeset in Superset 2 configuration, which means it had heavier gauge down tube that was also slightly oversize and ovalized. This, in conjunction with heavier gaude chainstays, resulted in a stiffer bottom bracket.

Based on the colour, I'm assuming you have the 1991 version but there could be colour variations, depending on the market. A 1991 version would have been 5th in the line of seven ATB models and sold for $525 US MSRP. Value is highly dependent on cosmetic and mechanical condition, so we would need pictures to provide a proper assessment.

That is a taller frame but if it fits it looks like an OK deal but it probably needs a good tuneup along with that new shifter cable.
