Peugeot PX10
 

Here's my PX10 I purchased in 73. I'm going to a hybrid for a upright seating.
Wheels and RD were changed before I left the LBS when I purchased it. I bought another crank for a 9/16" pedal change years later and the FD was changed because the Simplex one cracked. Wheels and cassette were from a Schwinn Sports Tourer of the same vintage and the RD is a Shimano Crane GS to go along with the taller gearing.
Ebay seems to be all over the place as far a $$ go.
Just need an idea of what I might get out of it. Willing to ship it for what it cost to pack and freight.

...on the local Craigslist here, they seem to usually list in the $400-$500 range. I'm intentionally clueless about E-bay prices, but for a while the smaller framed ones were a hot item going to Japan. Lose the rear rack before you list it.

Every C/L market is different. In mine, you could not sell that bike for the above price. My market just doesn't value the nicer vintage stuff. So to get "fair market value" in my case means selling on ebay. Of course, ebay means you have to pay all the fees and be willing to pack and ship at a reasonable cost.

So in my market, on the nicer stuff I tend to be a buyer rather than a seller.

Photo shoot suggestions for when you prepare your listing:

Lower stem ~3cm.

Rotate bars ~12 degrees downward.

Remove spoke protector.

Remove Herr Pletscher.

You can also probably get more for the Brooks saddle if you sell it separately, then mount a different saddle on the Pug to sell with the bike. Buyers will not necessarily want to pay much more for the Brooks but would like it as a throw-in. You can get a better return by selling it to someone who wants the saddle but not the bike.

There's been a PX 10 for sale for around $600 not too far from me for over 2 months with no movement. It's overpriced even though the bike is in a decent sized city. $400 to $500 is probably about right in most decent markets, less in smaller cities. The stronglight 93, even french threaded, is worth some coin, as is the saddle.

You threaded the drop out to take the shimano derailleur. That's actually a very useful thing to do but that will hurt the value as well. Do you still have the original simplex rear derailleur?

No, the LBS kept it and the wheel set in trade. The GS had the removable hanger and when they installed it the quick release axle never did suit me as being long enough. It shifted OK but is much better in its proper place. The derailleur has a factory "tang" that holds it in place just as it would on the hanger. If I had a Simplex derailleur with a matching cassette it would bolt right back on with no problem. Here's a before and after.
