Bianchi for $200 Canadian (about $160 US)

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-road-bike/ha...ike/1287186267

I didn't copy the photo as the original is not that great.

Advertised as "Men's road bike only info is "Excellent condition. Professionally gone over for $80. New grips. Light weight 12 Kg . Asking $200"

I emailed seller and said I got it was a Bianchi and asked what was written on the bike and the reply was "Bianchi".....I also asked for photos but got none. Its photo'd from the wrong side and I simply don't have the eye to see if it's any good.

I don't want to drive 45 minutes each way on a whim but thought if it's a good bike someone else might like....

WGB-

The photo is not great but it looks like an early 80s Japanese Bianchi. The gruppo might be Golden Arrow from the look of the brake calipers. Frame sticker might be Magny. From the overall look, $200 is not out of line for the Greater Toronto area. If sizing suits, it may well be worth the drive to see it in the metal.

The subject bicycle appears to a mid-1980s, Canadian market Bici II. It's hard to tell much from the non-drive side photo but I do see Presta valves indicative of 700C. The inside cage of the rear derailleur appears to be that of a SunTour AR or ARX, The brakes and levers look more like Shimano Z-series. It looks like it has a replacement stem. Pedal dust cap is missing.

Assuming I'm correct, this is sports model, sitting just above the cusp between entry level and mid-range. Most of the ones I've seen have been butted carbon-manganese main triangles with hi-tensile stays and forks, though some later ones had butted chromium-molybdenum main triangles. Original price was ~$350-$400 CDN circa 1984-1985.

Just being courteous.

I just got a Fuso that needs pedals and a seat and so I have enough of buying new toys for awhile. Just pointed it out in case any Bianchi fans were hungry. Hope someone who wants it gets it.

Should anybody be interested, the seller listed the bike with an "urgent" label on the Kijiji website. This meant he/she paid a fee so the advert would be noticeable. It usually means seller wishes to deal.......

Literally bought a Nishiki yesterday here in Buffalo. Otherwise I'd make the drive.
