1957 Columbia Tandem: what's it worth
Hello members,
I've had for some years this Schwinn 5-speed tandem bicycle in red (date bike). I was surprised to find, when using a serial number look-up tool, that its from 1957 (Chicago built). Or perhaps its been hacked together, but it seems unlikely given that it is a frame stamp. So now I'm curious about its valuation range. Can anybody help? I believe I paid ~300 about eight years ago. Thanks very much!

Not a Schwinn - it's made by the company Columbia.
Here's a link to everthing you'd want to know about Columbia tandems

Yours looks like an 1985 model based on the catalog pic and "Classic by Columbia" headbadge.

Not Schwinn not 1957. Curious as to what aspect made you think it was a Schwinn?
Columbia was a discount store brand, like a Next or similar Walmart brand. Tandems are hard to sell anyway, yours is attractive which will help. I’d put value at $100.

Cool bike! Ive always wanted to meet someone who would co-pilot one of those with me, they look fun
My local shop has one of the Schwinn's they are asking $250 for, -- this one- not sure.
Beauty and value is in the eye of the beer-holder

I've always had a hard time selling tandems, even nice vintage Schwinn tandems.

Thank you all for your responses. Yes, exactly the 'Classic by Columbia'.... for some reason had Schwinn so stuck in my head I couldn't even see the obvious badge! Much appreciated!
