1994 Marin Zig Zag Trail

I'm strongly considering a trade but would like to know what this might go for. It's to ride. Crazy idea to take it to Leadville.

24 year old rigid frame MTB. Old MTBs lose most of their value, as serious riders want the latest and greatest. That leaves recreational riders, who tend to be cheap.

TIG welded frame, XT parts? Are cables rust free? Shifters work well? Maybe $150, $200 would be tops. If it needs attention, under $100. Watch out for long top tubes.

I'm not seeing this in any of the Marin catalogs available on retrobike -- Was this a non US model?

The specs seem to match the domestic Eldridge Grade pretty well. I have 2 Marin's fom 1995 , a Team Issue and an Eldridge , both with Tange Prestige tubing- but the Eldridge is a little more laid back, with a 22.5 top tube compared to a 23.5 on the Team.

Both are great bikes, and lightweight for cromoly, with the Team weighing around 22.5 and the Eldridge around 24 lbs. The Team was a feather but the Eldridge was still competitively light back then. LX componentry vs XT and i suspect different butt thicknesses and things like that were used for the Team frame to explain the weight differences,

But all in all, nice bikes, -- my Eldridge is a timee capsule almost while the Team has been ridden hard and put away wet
If i wasnt so addicted to dual suspension, i'd definitely take on Leadville with that bike, -- with the caveat that im likely leaving some performance on the table compared to a modern carbon 29'er

I passed on the trade. Zig zag was in the German catalog. Same frame as team.

Nice bike I would put the value at $250 or so these Marin hard frames from the late 80's and 90's are some very nice riders and the construction on them is a late nicer than most 90's TIG bikes. One thin to not is this on has a fairly long wheelbase and very long top line from the center of the seat to the bars so it would to big for most riders.
