Gitane road bike
Hey! Just was going though the garage and was curious if this bike is worth anything or what year it was made... I tried adding photos but it said I can't until 10 posts... thanks for the help!

Model? Components? Steel or alloy rims on the wheels? Steel or alloy crank set? Or, down and dirty .. quick release mechanisms on the axles, or nuts ... shifters up on the handle bar stem, or mounted on the frame ... two braking levers on each side (safety levers?), or one? Scratched up paint? Rusty components? Dried up old tires? Serviced lately? Otherwise, similar to asking, "I have a car made by GM, how much is it worth". The B.F. crowd loves pictures, especially clear and detailed ones.

More info that can help: is the rear derailleur attached using a hanger, or does it bolt directly to the dropout? Is anything stamped on the front or rear dropouts? What diameter is the seatpost? Can you tell what type and model of crank, brakes, and derailleurs are on the bike?

Its a Gitane Grand Sport Deluxe. Low end bike. French bikes are difficult to work on because of french threaded parts and odd sizing. Probably want to replace the steel rims and steel cottered crank if you are looking to keep the bike. Needs all consumables replaced... Brake pads, cables, tires.
That combined with large frame size I value at $25.
Or...
Its a Gitane Grand Sport Deluxe. An icon of the early '70's bike boom. Give it a bath. Spray down with WD-40, oil the chain, see if the tires hold air. Though some parts and threads are French specific these bikes are well worth fixing up. Large frame size is just what taller 6'plus riders are looking for. Value... $150.

I had a performance a couple years back with those goofy hubs. Had a lot of campy stuff on it. Paid $50 sold for $220 in a day.
