Curious about value - 1984 Miyata 1000 Grand Touring

Thank you all for your responses! Very helpful. I appreciate the corrections also. I took it a few places and it is a 60" not a 57". Added some new pics too.

I've had this 84 Miyata 1000 for a long time. Ridden it many times. But it's been sitting there for too long now. Want to sell it. It's a 57" and in great shape. Original everything except for handlebars, saddle, and back tire.

Pics incoming.

Thank You!
James

I believe you need 10 posts before you can do images and URLs. So just post to some threads to get there.

That might have been a hot sale some years ago, but I think the market for the 1000s has cooled -- though being all original is a plus. Nice pics, shined up, fresh tape, on eBay, I might shoot for $500-600.

Also non-original: rear derailleur, brake levers.

It's a great bike with cantilever brakes & extra threaded eyelets for racks and such. Miyata's are supposed to have great frames. As-is, you might get $300 if you're lucky. With new tires, brake pads, bar tape, & cleaning you could get much more.

Rotate the bars down and bring the nose of the saddle up. That'll bump up the value right there!

Def a 60cm ctt, nice rig! CV prices are all over but generally trending down. Having said that tourers are always desirable, the 1000 is one of the most sought after tourers. 400-600 value which depends on local sale vs ebay and all the hassles it brings! The sale forum here is a good place to move it as well, but might bring less than ebay.........

I have the exact same model and size and it is a wonderful bike to ride. I would have a hard time parting with mine for under $600 which is a bargain compared to what you have to spend for a new touring bike. That being said I likely won't see a nickel since my son has his dibs on it :-)

Oh yeah. I wouldnít take $1000.00 for mine. When I got it, the black rims were still black! Never been ridden!

For comparison's sake I sold my '82 here on the forum for $520 shipped about two months ago. Sold in a matter of hours.

It was near original with replacement Shimano cantis and Dia Compe Gran Compe period correct levers and hoods. Also had near new 28mm Panaracer Pasela tires.

I would suspect yours would bring similar money

GLWS!
