Schwinn 853 Peloton/Ultegra/Mavic
Nice example of a 1999 853 in excellent original condition in YELLOW ! Has Spd pedals, a computer and bottle cages. This has the same Geometry as my Paramounts and if I were riding road bikes I would ride it. Any idea of value? AND does the sales thread here get any results? Thanks, Jack

Hmmm, the catalogs show the Yellow Peloton's as 1998. I had a 1999 Circuit that I always regretted selling. Really nice bike and light but let down by how harsh those aluminum forks are. Mine was pretty close to mint and sold for $300 several years ago if my memory is correct. I'd think the Peloton should get at least that much. These were actually being built by Scott Bikes during this era and really are good just not appreciated. I guess it's got the stock Ultegra 9 Speed? Clean it up good, take lots of detailed pics and give the sale forum a try. Clean up those wheels. Right now all a buyer is going to see are the black marks all around and wonder if the rim's brack track are worn out. So clean and close up pics. Heck, you should keep it and ride it. Heck of a bike.

I will second that the sales thread here does get results and is worth the small membership fee, I have sold a lot of stuff at or above fair market prices that didn't move on ebay or CL. As for the value of your bike I would put it $300-350 if everything is in as good of shape as it looks and the brifter's work good great bike. It just seems the market is weak for 90's mid level aluminium bikes seems like there are a lot of very nice ones for sale in nearly every market.

If it was local I'd be all over it for a reasonable price, I know how good that frame is. If that said Lemond and had Ultergra components you see prices from $500 up to over a $1000 easily.
