Araya for sell on Craigslist.
I Found on Craigslist a vintage yellow araya for $115. I can probably talk the guy down on price.
The ad says "Steel lugged frame & forks 10speeds Stem shifters and Suntour components". I don't know if there's a champion 1 sticker on the frame. Which I read is supposed to be as good as Columbus Steel frames.

Highly doubt it’s Champion more likely high ten steel.
Champion would have a frame RD mount, no claw. Stamped drop outs, etc.
Low end step through that needs some love = Pass.
Suntour components like Shimano too is meaningless. Both companies made a full product line from bottom end stuff that showed up on department store bikes to top of the line. It’s slmost like saying your car is a Dodge. Dodge made everything from the Horizon or Omni to a Viper.

With stem shifters and turkey brake levers, and both installed on a step thru frame, that likelihood of it being made of Champion 1 steel are nil. Most likely it is hi-ten steel.

The cycle's Sakae Ringyo Silstar chainset has the rare three degree taper. If a replacement bottom bracket spindle should be required it might be a challenge to locate.
This is not a quality tubing frame.
The bulge-formed head by Nikko Sankyo is generally a sign of a low end frame.

That’s a good candidate for converting to an upright handlebar grocery getter city bike. Probably an OK deal if you could get it for around $35 or so.

I'm pretty sure it is a lesser Kuwahara or Kawamura frame from the early to mid 70's based on the lugs and nuckel lug step over frame set. As such it would likely have a strait guage Hi-ten seamless Ishawata frame which while nice performing and supper tough not really on the level of most of the Columbus tube sets.

@T-Mar has written that Araya is a manufacturer of bicycles.
https://m.bikeforums.net/showthread.p...ighlight=Araya
Araya built cycles have their serials on the side of the seat tube and they begin with the letters ARY:

Blue machine is Vista brand made for Columbia and pearl white example is an Araya.
Quality models were also produced. Here is one we have had on the forum:
