GT All Terra Talera - what year, and aprx. value?

Posted to the 3T-GT thread - GT triple triangle frame thread - just picked up at a thrift store bike sale. Appears to be all CrMo, there's a CrMo sticker on the fork, and even the (surprisingly not heavy) stem has CrMo stamped on it.

My wife thinks it's aprx. a 1993, based on a bit of online research. Got the gummed-up STI trigger shifters mostly working, everything else works well, a few paint scratches, but the finish is mostly very good. Doesn't appear to have been left outside; every fastener so far has budged without a fight.

Here she is after cleaning up and taking off the tacky bits, and exchanging that overstuffed seat with a Kona saddle I had around.

2 hits from the retrobike.co.uk site pointing to 1991. And the catalog confirms it: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/...GT1991_USA.pdf

Approx value $60-$80

lets see your gt bikes - Page 6 | Retrobike

Excellent intel, thanks! Yeah, they do like those GTs in the UK. I see one on eBay right now going for $89 +110 shipping. 'Course, we're keeping it in any event.

As for the shifters, I think I'll keep them. Only issue is the front. From the large chainring, when I hit the small trigger it wants to jump all the way to the small chainring, and not stop in the middle. I'm guessing it's just a pawl not catching. I'll open it up one more time and free it up some more.

Put me down for $50-80.

Pretty much gotta get to Karakoram or above to get into triple digits. Well, maybe you could find a person that wants the Talera that bad, could take a while.

^^^^ Nice; and that rack works well for you? We've been undecided about a rack. Is that just a metal band around the seat tube holding it?

GT mountain and road bikes were never really a serious thing. They spent some time making the team USA super bike for track cycling in 1996 for Team USA before the UCI said that bikes must have a proper triangle. They also sponsored the Lotto team bikes for a few years and they made a weird road bike with seat stays attached to the top tube... However, Most of their success came in BMX racing, dirt jumping, and street. They sponsored some serious riders such as Garry Ellis and had quite a few ABA/NBL titles in BMX racing. It's the right era but the wrong type of bike to be worth anything much really.

Iím a little higher. Clean and ready to ride, $100 to $125. Would sell to a recreational rider, not a collector or someone picky about model or component group. More like something to ride around the neighborhood with their kids.

Exact year has no bearing on value.

I found that rack. liked it cuz it was large. maybe from a moped or something? I prefer more anchor points over fewer
