Italian (?) Supermodel - Windra Campione D1 Strada
Some of the \"herd" front to back: "New" ? '70's ? Windra Campione; ~'98 Nishiki Colorado (XL frame); ~'10 Western Flyer fixtie mtn bike.
Frame shifter
5 speed gear set
Turns out she's West German !
Headbadge
Hi all, just came across a new (to me) bike that I have never heard of or seen. This very attractive, lightweight bike appears to be maybe a mid-seventies (1970s) Windra Campione (head badge) D1 Strada (on the frame / down tube), men's, ~26" frame, (Italian ? French ? Japanese take-off ?), 5 speed, with a top frame-rail shifter on the right hand side. The frame is painted a kind of burnt / coppery orange, with full front and rear chrome fenders, a chrome rear rack, chrome open grip (spikey) pedals, semi-knobby (certainly aftermarket) 26"x1-1/2" tires on chrome rims, decent looking chrome side-pull caliper rim brakes and a conventional "racing" style black (? leather ?) seat on a chrome seat post & narrow chrome rams-horn, semi-flat handlebars with hard white plastic / rubber ridged handgrips. (Pictures to follow, once I get them downloaded) Anyone ever heard of this bike and / or know anything about this beauty of a critter (is it a decent riding bike ? low / mid / high range model / components ? worth fixing up or putting any money into her ? etc.) Thanks !
Update ! Turns out she's not Italian (or French or even Japanese) ! She's from West Germany !!! Anyway, she is rapidly becoming one of my fav rides (smooth, quick, nimble, agile, lithe, light, hell - maybe even a little bit "sexy", lol. Plus, she's a foxy lil red-head / ginger - what more could one ask for ?!?!?!

So no-one has a clue or has ever seen one of these ?
Maybe these weren't even ever imported to the States for retail sale, for all I know, it could be the only example of one in the country !!!

If convenient, could you please post images of seat stay attachment, bottom bracket shell, fork crown and side view of head?
Thank you.
Am unable to read portion of downtube transfer which is gold letters on a black background. Is it legible to you?
An assortment of Windra cycles are shown here -

Have found citations suggesting that Windra is a badge associated with Winora, a major german producer. Further digging needed.
Here is a listing for a Windra machine offered for sale -
https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-...93915-217-7613
It is common for major brands of bicycles to also own other badges, not as well known.
Motobecane, for example, had Orly, Astra, Dynamax, Monfor and Motoconfort.
Asked for images of frame details so as to be able to compare them to major brands.
Your machine appears to be constructed with ESGE bridges, Union pedals and hubs. Have seen these head lugs on other Deutschland machines as well.
Would expect brakeset to be either Weinmann or Altenburger.
