Hi. What would a quick sale value be on this PX10E?
Stronglight cranks. Brooks seat, Mafac brakes, Simplex RD, stock period stem/handlebars, etc.
I understand values vary by location. I tried doing a national Craigslist search and checking eBay. Prices are everywhere; $300-1200.
Looking for a quicksale value, say a Craigslist or even a sale on a forum like this.
Thanks.

Can you post some larger and clearer pics? It does not look to be in the best of shape, and I can’t tell if the low resolution is at fault.

$200-$300 as shown. Dirty, neglected, and tubulars? If the seatpost is not original and/stuck, take off $50.

Unfortunately, that's the best I can do for photos. My understanding is it was "well used" and raced by and amateur racing back in the day. So, likely the frame/fork and components are below average.

Ok, thank you. My understanding is it was well used and raced. So, it would need all consumables, and potentially have worn components.

Concur, although the tubulars would be a plus for me!

I am thinking more likely towards the lower end, maybe just $200 in my market. Long story short, this is one of two bikes that I have an opportunity to purchase from a single seller. The second bike (Frejus) is the bike I really want, but the seller wants to sell both together. So, to get the first bike, I have to carry the burden of selling the Peugeot; the balance would be the real "cost" of obtaining the first bike.

IIRC, you are in western CT. There are no PX-10's currently in metro NYC. Spend an hour to clean up the frame, chainrings, seat post. EZ $300 or part it out.

My last Peugeot PX10 sold for $1000.00 US plus a couple of hundred to ship it to Japan. The one I have now will not be sold that cheap. The X10 has, finally, earned the appeal as a collectible vintage road bike that is darn near iconic, in the average guy's (and mine) eyes...

Get both bikes. You will get your money back if you are patient. You might even want to keep the Peugeot. They ride very nice. This is the one I have now and a thousand dollars is not enough to get it away from me...

From discussions with the seller, I am inclined to think my potential acquisition with not be in the condition of @randyjawa bike shown above. The photos I have are not good but the seller did say he raced with the bike and used it hard.
From the cataloques I have viewed, I don't see the blue frame similar to the one I hope to purchase.
Does anyone know if blue was produced in a certain year?

I am, often times, amazed at how nicely a dirty old, sometimes oxidized, vintage road bike will clean up. My present PX10E was not filthy but not pretty either. It cleaned up pretty darn good.

Again, get both bikes. If you choose to do so, one bike can be kept and one sold, as a complete bike or parted out. Been doing this for years and it is the only way that I could afford my vintage bicycle hobby.

With that graphics scheme, that color was used in 1972, 1973, and 1974. All the 1971's I've seen are in the Peacock Blue, a more teal color. Yours would be Royal Blue.

1000.00 is an outlier in my area....there is one listed in .A. for 350 and it has been up for quite a while/// even if you bought it for 200 and cleaned it up add your tubulars and all the res you would be in over 300, what is your time worth?
That bike needs a lot of attention.

I am going to proceed with the purchase, contingent on actually viewing in person. The purchase will include period tools, vintage shoes, miscellaneous period campy parts. I only have general descriptions of these from Seller.
What keeps lingering in my mind is the replacement fork on the Frejus. Seller did in fact crash the Frejus, but he tells me the bike was used for years after; no frame damage. Guess bottom line is I have to find the time and see this all in person.

Well, almost two months later, I finally picked up the Peugeot yesterday. The Peugeot was bought along with a Frejus and a box of misc parts. See this other post regarding the Frejus: Frejus hierarchy?
Initially, the Frejus was the bike I wanted (seller wanted to sell both together). But now that I picked the bikes up, I think the Peugeot is a more attractive bike, and definitely in better condition. I misunderstood the Seller, I thought he said the Peugeot was from the 1970s. But, I think its early 1960s.
The serial number is 314958. (I believe the "58" is the size) Any thoughts on the age of this PX10?

It should be later, 1968-1970. AFAIK, these had the rainbow stripes on the seat tube. Earlier versions had a more plain gold band instead of the rainbow stripes.

Well, I trust your knowledge, its just that the Seller, whom bought the bike new, insists he bought it prior to 1967. Could be his memory is incorrect, but he seems pretty sure.

Peugeot PX10 Evolution

Looks like a 1967 or later model to me.

I took your advice......I got the Peugeot and the Frejus and a box of goodies. Probably over paid.....years from now, will it matter? Probably not. The extras included a couple of very cool free-wheels, including a Caimi and Cyclo Competition; I have never heard of these. Also, some cool shoes from the 60s; Mafac tool set, Shimano 600 Arab. mechs, some stems, Campy rings, old head light, NOS German brand spokes; Campy bar-end shifters. Lots of odds and ends I have yet to identify. Also, included were an extra set of wheels; German brands wheels with Campy high flange. So, lots of extras for future projects. I will post pics, if anyone is interested in the outcome of this 3 month quest. Thanks..

Oddjob also concurs with the post-67 date, and I'd take his opinion over mine any day.

I bought my PX-8 from a guy who "bought it in '72 while in the service in Germany". He was the original purchaser. The rims, however, had a date code of 1974 on them, so it would have been difficult for him to have bought it 2 years before the wheels were even made.

Memory is a fickle thing. My first road bike was a brand-new 1972 Schwinn Varsity, root-beer brown with matching bar tape, chrome headlamp, bullet chrome tail-lamp, and generator. I can see every detail of the bike, even now, how the paint sparkled in the sun, the switch on the headlamp, hear the whirrrr of the generator, having it shipped to my Navy base in Maryland. Not one bit of memory remains of what I did with the bike afterwards.
