Raleigh Grand Sport

I think I can grab this today but it is too small. What do you think it is worth and do you think i might be able to trade the frame for a larger one. Front rim is not large flange and the Simplex derailleurs are probably toast.

From the visible rust on the forks and components, I'd be hard-pressed to give $50 for it, and I'm one to attempt restoring old rust-buckets. They're fairly common, one in pristine shape near me has been up on C/L for a while for $400, and it's nearly all original and completely restored. I'm sure it won't sell for anywhere near asking price.

If it's not your size, it's not a good deal for you, not for trading.

Will this one fit? It's $225, a virtual steal.

No, that will be the most expensive $50 you ever spent, once you replace everything needed to get it back on the road. Assuming you're gonna ride it.

But if your intention is to flip, clean it up and flip away. No guarantees in that brutal racket, would not recommend.

I’ve been admiring C&Ver’s 531 Raleighs, and thought that this one being close to me, I could get in on it by trading this small frame for one my size. Maybe these small Grand Sports aren’t in demand?

I dunno, but it's not top of the line, so flipping this would be pretty hit and miss. I personally will never buy anything i can't ride and enjoy, the used market is just too fickle to gamble on, and I hate selling stuff, don't have the patience or people skills.

In most cases I would prefer to just give a used item away rather than field endless flaky emails and phone calls while trying to earn myself 50 bucks.

I'd give $50 for it as long as stem and seat post are not stuck. Shimano bar ends have value, as does GB stem. I would need to see the rest of the bike before I got super excited about the deal.

Ad is gone. looks like the bike has sold. The 531 tubing is really all it had going for it, IMO. Lots of old Peugeots for sale on LA CL. That one could have made the buyer a few bucks in a flip, or sat for months unsold, as is common.
