Bridgestone 4130 Bike

I need a bike to commute to work with and I have a fondness for older Japanese bikes. Is this bike any good? What do you think it's worth/what type is it? Trying to get into cycling and want something unique and light.

Yeah the guy is posting it for $80 actually but I think I can get it for $60. I don't have any more info I was hoping people here might.

It is definitely worth $80, unless there is damage we can’t see. The bike has decent brakes (without the turkey wings) and has downtube shifters (and not stem shifters). The crank appears to be a decent version. As long as everything functions well when you try it, it should be a good choice.

I wondering if that tape on the top tube if hiding a dent from the handlebars, as it still has all three cable tunnels. The brakes appear to be a set of those self-centring Bridgestone aero model. It looks like a mid-1980s sports-touring model, possibly a 500 or thereabout. The serial number will tell us the exact frame manufacturing date.

Is that tape or the shadow of the bar?

You are not going to find unique or light road bike for $60 in decent condition. This is a good road bike, very good for the price. But it is going to be somewhat heavy (not Schwinn Varsity heavy) and not unique.

I tend to start seeing light and unique vintage bikes around $400 and up, sometimes way up.

Regardless, good deal for the price as long as seat post and stem are not stuck. Check before you buy!
