Schwinn Tempo 105

I am interested in a 1987 Schwinn Tempo. https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/...733459932.html . Looks to be a sweet ride and clean. Not sure about the price though.
What do you guys think.
Thanks
Bill

I like these late 1980s Schwinns. They are nice riders and I think good value. Last summer, I bought a 1988 Tempo for my wife for $175 in NE Ohio, but it was not as nice as the one in your link. I sold a 1986 frame that was too big for $100 earlier this year, also not quite as nice. I would think DC is a higher priced market than here. $275 doesn't look out of line. Maybe offer him a little less and see where you end up.

I have a 87 that took me 10 years to pull out of my neighbors hands. Not nearly as nice as this one. Go take for a ride and see how it feels. Price is right on the money.

There's also this one in Richmond......

I was thinking about this one myself but @seypat took a look for me and said the seller had a higher offer. But it's still listed at the orignal price he was asking. There are more pictures of it on the eBay/CL thread from Oct 27.
Both bikes look very clean.

I'm pretty sure I restored that bike four or five years ago, for a LOT more money than the seller is asking.
In my world, that is a deal.

The minute I saw the pristine bike in the photo above and a DC link, I said, that is a Dr. Cannondale build, lol!

Thanks

Not a repaint.
When I worked on it, the paint would have hadto be pretty good, otherwiseI would have had it powder coated a single color.
Note that these frames tend to have surface rust along the sharp edges of the lugs where painted white. Not a big deal but often requires a little cleaning and touch up with white Testor's.
My guess is you can also talk the seller down some, as the DC market is terrible. Bike share, Lime, Orange and the scooters have killed it.

Thanks rccardr. have decided to hold off for a while. It is a beautiful bike. While looking at it I found an 87 Panasonic DX 3000 for $50. Bought it for now. Is a surprisingly nice bike for $50. Needs some TLC but hey don't we all! I notice a large scrape on the drive side seat stay. I doubt that was there when sold, Do you recall?
Thanks
Bill

Here is the serial number so rccardr can confirm. This guy was/is a Chicago flipper that had relocated to Richmond 1.5 years ago. He said he had an offer of $270 when I looked at it. Must have fell through. Lots of Schwinns. He is moving back to IL in the near future. He said he is going to unload his inventory before he moves back. I have his name and number. If anyone is interested, PM me.
