1980's Trek ID Help

1980's Trek ID Help


Large frame Trek with fairly long chainstays, Ishiwata Tubing, Dia Compe Side Pulls, Sun Tour Power Shifters, VX long cage RD, & semi-wrapped seatstay caps. I can't find anything
online that matches this particular decal. Seller is older & can't locate the serial #.

Decal is certainly a replacement. If it's a contract built bike (Japan), the serial number may be at the base of the seat tube, versus on the bottom bracket shell.

I agree, the decal is a replacement. And based on the components, and the fact that only the 3 main tubes are Ishiwata, I believe this is either a late 70's or early 80's Trek 412. Thanks nesteel

Looks like a 1978 510 (if riveted head badge)...have a 24in same in the keeper fleet. If it fits they are excellent, but underrated, frames.

Agreed that the DT decal is unusual. Maybe you can match the components/frame color in the photo you have with the various years' Trek brochures on this site:
