70ish Raleigh Pro MK1

She has Campy and some dura ace. Surface rust and a total tear down needed. It does look like an MK1. Believe the chrome was not factory but looks good.
Serial number E3276. I posted in C&V and we believe it to be an MK1. What do you folks think it is worth? I have to make arrangements before Sunday if i am getting it.

The combination of the seat stay caps and Zeus Gran Sport ends set is more consistent with a Competition than a Pro.
Have never seen a pro with this combination of traits.
There was a Pro of about 1968-69 which had these features but it was all paint - no chrome.
Cannot help but wonder if we are looking at a machine which has been extensively reworked.
It is definitely a first quality Raleigh from the time suggested but find it somewhat puzzling.
The Heronic experts are sure to weigh in with more and better information.
If mine, I would wish to examine steerer and interior of shell and seat tube to check for traces of brown "mink" paint...

It's a 1969 or 1970 MK I Pro (as Kurt noted in the other thread). Although there's a remote possibility that it's a Raleigh Ruberg from somewhere between '67 - '68... The Front derailleur and brakes can pass for original. The rear derailleur could pass for a later upgrade. The seat post might be original. The serial number should start with D or E, but if the bike was chromed aftermarket, it might be tough for the seller to make out (but should also be stamped on the steerer).
Provided the seat post isn't stuck and nothing is cracked, rusted or bent, I wouldn't think twice about the asking price. At worst, I'd consider it a reasonable request, though if you're inclined to negotiate, that wouldn't seem to be poor form - unless you try to steal it from him.
Hoping it lands in your garage, and that we see a thread on it down the road.

Zorro, Thanks. The serial number starts with an E. I figured out it was worth $450(To me). Looked at Sheldon Browns site and it showed a 69 that was painted but it was this bike. It also said that the pro serial number starts with an E. I think it was chromed later but who knows. I feel good about it for the price. I have Wanted a Pro for quite a while and this is a cool looking bike. As for the chrome I have read that is was not out of the question for them to pop a few odd bikes here and there! Here's hoping!

Had the opportunity to borrow a friend's Pro from ~'68-'69. It was white with no chrome. Had panels of the colours seen on the Deutsche Bundes Republik national flag on its seat tube (opaque muddy gold, opaque muddy red & black).
Fork crown was full sloping.
One interesting thing about it was that it came from the factory fitted with MAFAC Tiger brakeset. Stem & bar was 3TTT Gran Prix.
Wonder if subject frame would have come through with eyelets on the Zeus Gran Sport ends set. Perhaps they were removed prior to the after-market plating job... Interesting that they chose to leave the centrepull bridge in place.
Thanks again for sharing, a most interesting find.
