Is this Pinarello Treviso worth it ?

Seller says that it has " Original Shimano 600 groupset with downtube, non-indexes shifters. Columbus SL tubing. Brooks Vitesse saddle. Cinelli stem and handlebars. Original Mavic rims" and it seems to be in pretty good condition other than the fact that one of the decals is peeling. Is this worth the selling price of $400 ?

I bought one with full Campy Record for $325, but that was 5 years ago. The decals were awful on that one. Haggle.

Only one decal peeling???
The decals must have been replaced at some time then.......
People are still debating out there whether replacing the typical flaking decals on an 80's Pinarello negatively affects its value.....

84 Pinarello Montello. Replacement fork. Peeling decals. Mixed group. Mismatched wheels. Couple of very small dents = $250. $400 in better shape seems fair.

edit: recently purchased.

SL Pinarellos are nice rides so it could be worth the $. The front wheel has a serious flat spot (9PM in the last photo 10PM in the first) and unless the bike was hermetically sealed those might be replacement decals as others have said so I would ask about a respray. I think I see a Giovani decal on the TT (looks too far back?) which usually in my experience means a Treviso decal up front, if that white blur is a Treviso decal it looks too far up the tube.

I missed the flat spot in the rim. The tire looked flat. But, that means either a new wheel or rim (and wheel building) will be on order very soon. Riding a bike with that serious of a flat spot won't be fun.

I presume black is a less common vintage bicycle color, so a repaint is quite possible. A lot of the Pinerellos also have chrome bits. If there are any imperfections in the paint on the rear seat stays/chain stays, you might be able to verify whether they were previously chromed.

Replacement decals are available.

I think $400 is within the ballpark of what one might pay for the complete bike.

You can always offer less, due to the decal issues, front wheel issues, and likely repaint. $300?

I sold my wife's Pinarello Record with Super campy (original date group for era) for $1150 not long ago. I thought that was a fair price for buyer since market is down. Was clean and had the metal flake paint. Other than standard decal crazing that is.

The pealing decals is a mid 90's thing, as well.

The subject frame is a Pinartello Treviso (Columbus SL) circa 1985-1987. The components doe not appear to be OEM, with the majority pre-dating the frame. The crankset and brakes appear to be 1978-1983 Shimano 600EX, while the shift levers appear to be 1984-1987 Shimano New 600EX. The rear derailleur appears to have the hatch plate mechanism, so it is probably 600EX but a positive identification cannot be made from the non-drive side photo. Similarly I can't identify the hubs and front derailleur.

The front wheel appears to have a major flat in the 10:00 position, as seen in the full photo. The frame looks like there may be flaking paint on the top tube in the area immediately behind the head lug. Both are possible signs of a crash. Even without the crash indicators, it is not a $400 bicycle. With the crash indicators, sub $100 and a recommended pass for inexperienced buyers.

Photo assist, with highlighting....

Flaking decals were a Pinarello issue even into the early 2000s, as my NOS Prince frame will attest.
