Identifying a vintage Gary Fisher bike.
I recently got an old gary fisher bike and was told that it was bought by my great grand father in the 80s. Now from what I understand gary fisher didn't even exist before 93 and my bike is a GR wahoo (which didn't predate 96). My guess is that it might not be the original frame and if there is an original then it must not have even been a gary fisher. After doing some research, I think that it is in fact a 1996 Gary Fisher wahoo, cherry red. What I want to know is what one of those bikes might sell for because I can't find one for sale anywhere online.
Update: can't post images because I don't have 10 posts on the forum. What I can do is say that the bike absolutely is red and says "Wahoo" on the frame.

A picture would be very useful. pretty difficult to tell you what it is without one. Gary Fisher mountain bikes go back to 1983 IIRC. I used to sell them where I worked. They were usually yellow for some reason.

Gary Fisher started manufacturing his eponymous mountain bikes in late 1983, for the 1984 model year, so it could be from the 1980s. However, even if it is a 1996 Wahoo, we'll still require photographs, as cosmetic and mechanical condition are big factors in determining value.

Make a few more posts, then put up some drive side pictures with details of seat stay/top tube and head tube/top tube/downtube and bottom bracket areas and you will get some info. Unfortunately, with only a few exceptions, old mountain bikes have little resale value. Probably most of the value will be personal and sentimental. Don

Your ‘96 Wahoo is on the lower side of the scale and originally sold for around $350. As noted with a few exceptions for the cream of the crop bike old mountain bikes do not hold value well. Cleaned up, tuned up and ready to ride this might go for $100 in hot used bike market like L.A. or a big college town.
