Mercier Columbus

I'm about to place an offer on this bike so I'm putting this out to the community to see what it might be worth or at least its background.

Does this fit? It looks big. Something looks off to me, but I am no Mercier expert

I always liked the pink that Mercier used especially on its top end racing bikes.

This is a nice bike but it is lowish mid-range. The tubing is tretubi aelle which means that the main three tubes are made of Columbus low end chrome moly tubing; it's sort of the lowest end of good quality tubing. The fork and stays are likely hi tensile. The components are consistent with a lowish mid-range quality bike.

You're likely in Europe, right? Bike prices tend to be higher there than the States. I'd value this right around $150 US.

Welcome to the forums, The subject bicycle is 1983-1986, assuming the 1st generation 105 derailleur is original. As previously noted, the components in conjunction with the tretubi Aelle frame place it very low mid-range for the era. Mercier had pretty much abandoned the America markets by this time, so I'd also assume it is located in Europe, in which case I have no appreciation for market conditions and will defer to other members on value.

Bugger! I'm in Australia but I was hoping I had a diamond in the rough!
