Benotto

Slightly concerned about rust around bottom bracket and throughout. Seller will take $100. What do you guys think value wise? Is it worth restoring?

It looks to me to be a fairly mid-range version. The paint is headed south. A lot of cracking and chipping of the paint and there is no recovering it without a repaint. "Patina"?

I doubt you've rusted through, but it would need some close inspection to verify.

Maybe $200 if no obvious spots where it has rusted through.

Early to mid- 1980s, entry level, Benotto 800 Dilettante. Frame is hi-tensile steel, Sun Tour Vx derailleurs and swaged crankset are basic. Ambrosio rims are decent but are typically paired with low end Miche hubs on this model. I can't identify the brakes but I've seen Dilettante come through with everything from Cherry to lower end Modolo. Original MSRP was $225-$250 US in the mid-1980s. It's hard for me to get excited about this at $100, even ignoring the rust. I'd pass.

Thank you T-Mar. I was leaning in the same direction as you but needed confirmation.
