1983 Trek 970
Aloha-
Planning to sell/trade this as it's too small.
54cm 1983 Trek 970, one of the last Treks built with Columbus steel.
Can you help ballpark it? The color scheme is something only a mother could love, but the original paint is in OK shape. Some spiderwebbing under the paint, a couple nicks here and there. Some peeling beneath the bottom bracket.
Searching eBay doesn't help, as very few of these have come up and most searches for this model number actually return results from a late 90's multitrack that went by the same model number.
Decals are aftermarket from Velocals, but a close match to the originals.
Value of F/F? The Suntour Sprint group isn't complete and so probably wouldn't go with the frame.
Thx!

incazzare.
My first "adult" bike, when I was 13 or so, was a Huffy in this color scheme. I called it "ketchup and mustard" and I kind of hated it. Pretty quickly, I was hit by a car and the bike was toast--I was mostly OK. But now the colors make me nostalgic! Funny how the brain works.
I'm ballparking but I'd think you could get $200 for the frame and fork. I might even make you an offer if I didn't already have too many bike projects in my life!

Continuing on the theme of hamburgers, I've been told the colors remind some people of Ronald McDonald.
I'm sure this thing rides a little better than your Huffy. If I can't get this into the hands of someone who would appreciate it soon, maybe we can make a deal.
Any other estimates?

If it is road ready, I would not sell that in my area for less than 150. A little rust on the frame. Clean up the rust and retouch, more like 200.

Sought after frames but this one appears to have some bubbling rust, at least under the top seat lug it looks pretty crusty, hows does the BB rust look? Could just be it spent its life in HI and salt air corroded over time....but that does hurt the value as you either need to find someone who just wants to ride it and if so I would just sell it all together locally for 200+-. If you clean that rust off and it looks fine underneath you could probably get 200-250+- on ebay for f/f but once you ship from HI and pay fees may be easier to just sell it locally/trade and be done with it.

Good size, not terrible condition, vintage Trek one year only model race geo frame. $250 on the 'Bay for the frameset. Sell the rest off in parts, probably make another $150 or so, depending on what the wheels are.
