80's (?) Schwinn frameset

Looking to build a commuter/light duty tourer around an old steel frame, and this listing on ebay caught my eye. Any thoughts as to the model/year? The seller on ebay isn't too sure. What is a reasonable offer for this frameset?

Not a Superior. Do yourself a favor and buy a complete bike. Might be a Super LeTour, nothing special. Seller is dead wrong on this one.

Sticker says it all cromoly main tubes. Superiors from that era were Reynolds 531. Whether seller is trying to deceive or not, that is the result. Shame on him.

Top of the down tube shifter mount braze on, which was common on lower models, but not on the Superior.

Great, thanks for that. Likely avoided some disappointment.

It does say chromoly double butted tubing (main tubes only?).

It likely would make a decent touring frame. But, I certainly don't see anything special about it.

Maybe $50 for the frame + $50 shipping, or $100 total ($USD)

For the $275 asking price (including shipping), you could find a complete bike, or a much nicer frame.

Im no expert but might be a 1984-ish LeTour Luxe, which would probably do everything you need for commuting/light touring but Id only pay probably $25 for a frame and fork only. Especially in that shape.

I'd suggest you take a close look at the Ross Grand Tourer, also on eBay, similar size and color but appears complete and recently serviced.
Less expensive, even with shipping included. And they are pretty nice bikes- I seem to remember full Shimano 600...

Also if you look close I doubt this frame is strait/true the fork looks to be bent in a about 5mm and the bottom tube on the frame doesn't look completely strait. Also it is not a Schwinn the the paint color and single aero braze on were don't match any Schwinn's. Lesser mid level Japanese frame circa 81-84 with no bad id and condition issues worth maybe $30-40 local pic up.

Run! It is probably a super le tour and it's built for 27", has brazes for only 1 bottle, no brazes for d-tube shifters, and I believe the steel piece that faces the rear dropouts has detached (I've seen that before on these schwinns.) It'd be a fine rider if complete and good condition, but not a frame to spend money building up.

All the frame features match an 84 Le Tour Luxe.
