Hey all! I was just offered both of these bikes for $80
They will need a little elbow grease.
I would likely keep one for me and fix and see the other.
Would they be worth it? What could I sell the other for in good ridable condition?

They are not the highest end but aluminum wheels and alloy cranks at 40 a piece, what are you waiting for..

Well, I just don't know how much I could get for the one I would tune up and re-sell.

Which one fits? I'd put the best parts on that one and get my $80 back on the other.

I'm not sure yet! I haven't gotten to see them, but hope to tomorrow. I also have no parts lying around so I'll have to see if I can do some used parts on the larger one.

Seat and tires at least, maybe whole wheels. Whatever brake hoods are better. And ask if they still have the frame pump.

My personal choice would be to fix up the black one, and cannibalize the silver bike. Take what I needed for the black bike and sell the remaining parts. Probably end up with a free bike. Pedals, stem, bars, rims, derailleurs, kickstand, brake levers, even that old leather seat, all have value.

That's an awesome idea. Thank you! I was drawn to the black one first too. Hoping it fits me. If not I will make it a gift for my friend. I get to see them today!

Plus, black paint is VERY easy to touch up, and that one seems to need less work and have newish tires. It is a small frame. Good luck with them!

Good point! I hadn't even thought about the touch-up!

They look good. Check out that saddle. If it's a Ideale and it's in fair shape, you just paid for most if your original purchase price.

They look a lot like my '78 PR10, which I paid $400 for. OK, I fell in love with the nearly pristine gold paint and nice decals. I had spent more than that on paint and decals on a '73 Super Course so this one seemed like a good deal, and the CL guy wouldn't budge on price. It needed real brake levers, and I had to add a front derailleur and I changed the crank. It's a great ride. I would certainly grab those two you found. They are great riding bikes, if a little quirky French.

As bought.

My current set-up.
