C35 Colnago/Ferrari Carbon Fibre Frame
Hello,
My wife and I have been going through her late father`s bicycle collection and uncovered a beautiful carbon fibre frame manufactured in a joint venture between Colnago and Ferrari.
I do not know much at all about bicycles but from what I`ve read, the C-35 was manufactured in 1989 and was Colnago`s first ever carbon fiber production bike.
The frame does not appear to have ever been used and is in extremely good condition. However; a lot of the gold plating on the handlebar stem has come off.
I would be very grateful if somone could provide me with more information about this bike along with how much you think it could be worth.
Kind regards,
James

Without anything to go on except your description, 6-7K.....
It's quite rare but generally not considered super desirable.
Not everybody's cup of tea aesthetically, so selling it could take some time.
The Carbitubo and Volo models predate it by a year or so, so it's not exactly Colnago's first carbon production bike.

Hi cb400bil,
yes, the frame looks exactly like that, only with exposed carbon rather than the red paint. I will post photos as soon as I am able to.
Kind Regards

Ohhhh....
Sweet Frame!!!
It may be that there would be a lot of pantographed gold parts. So, how much do you have that goes with it other than the stem? Photo of the side of the stem? Gold crankset? Anything else? Is the plating bad on the stem?
With these older frames, condition is key. I think Colnago had some clearcoat issues on some of their frames from that era (or perhaps it was due to exposure). And, some of your photos seem to show wear on the decals.
Colnago used 28.0mm seatposts on some of their frames from that era, and they're a pain to source. Even if your seatpost is missing, I'd source one (silver decals?).
I can't say what the value was. There was a C35 floundering on E-Bay with an asking price in excess of $100K. Hmmm... maybe the price has been reduced to $50K, and still not sold.
There is a painted on on E-Bay (complete bike) for $7000, and one that recently sold for nearly $8000.
Hard to say what I'd ask for your frame. I'd love to buy it for cheap.
But, realistically, the asking price should be > $5K.
If you could source a quality gold plated Campagnolo groupset, it would really make the frame pop, and could bring you up to around $10K, more or less.
