Koga Miyata Mountain Bike X Runner - What's it worth?
Hi Everyone,
I'd appreciate any advice you may have on what Koga Miyata X Runner MTB may be worth.
I'm also interested to know whether it would be a good hard tail bike for a beginner. I'm looking for a used bike that was above entry level.
Apologies in advance - I realize the bike may not qualify as classic or vintage and will be happy to post this elsewhere if you could direct me to the appropriate forum (I just didn't see another appraisal forum here). Thanks!
I came across a Koga Miyata X Runner on Criagslist. The label says its an Alloy Design 7005.
I don't know much about the bike and neither does the owner. Here's what he told me:
- He's asking $580
- his brother selected the bike new around 8 years ago (2011 ish) and paid around $2k for it (and supposedly told him "you owe me $2k")
- he only lightly used it; condition looks close to new
- he sent me additional pictures, which I'll try to post
- The components:
- Rock Shox Judy
- Disk brakes
- Shimano Deore LX components throughout
- Ritchey seatpost
- Mavic rims ("Crabss"? - hard to make out from the pic)
- Schwalbe Racing Ralph tires
- Selle San Marco saddle

I'd appreciate any info you may provide.
Thank you!

The bike looks to be in nice condition and not too beat up
If the wheels/tires are 26" , the seller is optimistic at $580 --id put a more appropriate value at 300-350ish
IT does not look like it has 29" wheels, but if it is possibly 27.5, maybe $450

Mind if I ask what size you think it is?
Im looking for a 17.5” bike (and the owner claims he’s my height) but I’m not sure based on the pics.
Thanks!

Thanks. I like the bike and it does look almost new. I’m going to ask him today whether he’d consider other offers.

It's like a grandpa car. Old, nice condition, but not worth anything too much once it stops being a grandpa car by being used...

As I am a newbie, can you explain how this bike is akin to a grandpa car (as in an old, outdated Buick) rather than something more like, for example, a classic sorts car? Thanks!

Those wheels look like my Mavic CrossMaxes but hard to tell from the pic. If they are, I like mine. Nice and light.
