1985 Bridgestone T700 vs 1982 Peugeot Centennial PH12

Hey - I have two options for a commuter bike. The price of the two bikes is about the same $270 ish. What are your thoughts on the two bikes? Which would you pick? Both are in good condition. Bridgestone is all original. Peugeot is new tires and seat.

Welcome! I like the T700 as a commuter over the PH12.

The T700 has plenty of options for fitting fenders, racks, panniers and the like, plus a long wheelbase for keeping the bike steady when loaded.

The Peugeot is more of a sport bike, and fitting accessories wouldn't be as easy.

If you weren't carrying anything on the bike, the PH12 would work as a commuter, but it wouldn't be my first choice if a touring bike is available.

Thanks @bargainguy for the quick reply! My only thought though on that is that I have to carry the bike up a couple flights of stairs. The T700 is a bit heavier than the PH12. I'd really just need a rear rack for groceries etc. Still think it's worth it?

Yes, absolutely. The T700 shouldn't be that much heavier than the PH12 that you'd want to abandon one for the other.

For commuting, the idea is to get you where you need to go without too much fuss or worry. A bike that is designed to handle heavy loads is ideal for such circumstances. And if you commute in the wet, fenders will be a big plus, so a bike that can easily take them also comes in handy.

I would go with the T700 also .It will allow bigger tires fenders and a lot more choices component wise if you find you need want them.
