Prior to the 1984 Olympics, Southland (7-Eleven) had purchased the license to the title "Official Bicycle Manufacturer for the 1984 Olympics". from the Olympics Committee. They subsequently sold it to Murray, who were sponsoring their 7-Eleven's men team. There were bicycles were made by both Ben Serotta and Tom Kellogg. This instigated a war with Huffy/Raleigh USA, who had obtained the license of "Official Manufacturer of Bicycles for the US National Team" from the USCF and felt that all the US Olympic team members should be on their bicycles. The International Olympic Committee and US Olympics Committee had to step in and say that riders could choose their own bicycles, though in the cases of team time trials, where the bicycles had to function well together, the decision was left to the coaches. Ironically, the most memorable bicycle form these Olympics turned out to be neither a Murray or Huffy/Raleigh, but Alexi Grewal's Pinarello.
Regardless, the Murray Olympic bicycles are desirable because of their "Official" designation. Besides being ridden by some USA team members, they were also the bicycles supplied to neutral race support. If there is objective evidence tracing it to a specific team member or a support bicycle, then the value could go quite high.Without that, I'd place it $800-$1000 US. Of course, if this is a grail bicycle for you, paying more would probably be advisable, if necessary They are rare and the condition is very good.
